Subject: FN0426-Licensing Information - 2015-2016 Victoria Day Long Weekend Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licence Information

If you’re going fishing this long weekend, plan ahead! Get your electronically
issued licence 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through our National Recreational
Licensing System (NRLS). Licences can be purchased via any computer connected
to the internet at or by using Google search key words “Recfish
Licence”. Once you register, you will also be able to replace a lost licence or
renew future licences through NRLS.

To avoid system delays, the best time to access the National Recreational
Licensing System is outside of peak periods. Peak periods are every day from 12-
3pm; every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; and anytime there is a major fishery
opening, such as the Fraser Sockeye opening.

If there is an emergency outage, limited internet connectivity or if you are
having trouble obtaining your licence, you can also visit an Independent Access
Provider; a list of current service locations may be found at If you
are a non-resident wishing to fish for halibut in Areas 23, 121, or 123, you
must acquire a licence through one of these locations.

Refunds will not be issued for licences purchased online, so please ensure your
licence selection (including the fishing year) is correct before you complete
your transaction.

If you’re going fishing in areas with limited internet connectivity or areas
with limited or no Independent Access Providers/ retailers (e.g. Haida
Gwaii /Queen Charlotte Islands, Port Hardy, West Coast Vancouver Island),
please ensure to get your licence in advance of your fishing trip!  Before you
register, ensure that you have a valid email address.  You will need the email
address each time you log into your account.  If you do not have a computer,
internet or printer, please visit your local Visitor information Center,
Service Canada or library.
