Island Outfitters Fire

Posted by on

The Island Outfitters family is devastated by the fire in the early morning of January 4, 2020. The entire inventory has been destroyed, as well as severe damage to the building. We are pleased to report no one was hurt, including first responders.

Our Appreciation

Our thanks go out to the fire department and police who attended, and put out, the fire without injury. We also wish to thank the community, as we have been inundated with expressions of concern and condolence. The business community has also stepped up without hesitation, offering jobs to many of our employees at this difficult time of upheaval and disruption to their lives.

Current Business

We have outstanding business with many people in the community. Many people have gift cards and are looking to spend them with us, others have pending firearm transfers, and consignment sales.  Please be patient, we’ll be attending to every situation.

  • Our fishing charter business is unaffected and we’re happy to be able to keep a number of our staff working. We run two boats out of Victoria Harbour year-round, as well as three out of Port Renfrew beginning in May.
  • Our accommodation rentals are also fully operational - Osprey rentals in Port Renfrew, Port Renfrew house and Cowichan River are all available for year-round bookings.
  • Island Outfitters hosts and participates in a number of events that will not be disrupted – fishing derbies, the Boat Show, and our weekly fishing report.

The Future

We will be rebuilding our business as soon as possible. We will keep everyone informed through our newsletter and website as our schedule unfolds.
