renowned saltwater fishing along Vancouver Island’s coastline
with the seasoned pro’s from Island Outfitters. The picturesque
coastline of southern Vancouver Island is world renowned for its diversity
of gamefish and natural beauty.
The Cowichan River is renowned for
its exceptional angling opportunities year-round. With our cabin
located right on the river, expert guides, drift boats and professional
equipment, Island Outfitters has all the tools to make your
fishing dream a reality.
The Cowichan River contains two species of native trout: the
rainbow and the cutthroat, as well as an introduced species:
the brown trout.
Originally stocked in the 1930's, the brown trout is now sustaining
its own population and provides unique angling opportunities
not found elsewhere in the province. |

Relax
in our cabin, as you enjoy some of the finest fishing
found anywhere in BC.
Most of the Cowichan's trout are now wild. Aside
from trout, the Cowichan also has exceptional steelhead
and salmon fishing opportunities. Chinook (King),
Coho (Silver), and Chum salmon are all native to
the river, returning each fall to spawn.
March through till May is when the trout season
is in full swing. Golden stoneflies, caddis flies,
and march brown mayflies begin to hatch often with
trout gorging on them. Excellent dry fly opportunities
exist for angler seeking to get in on some of this
truly remarkable action. |
